Hotlegs - You Didn't Like It Because You Didn't Think Of It - The Complete Sessions 1970-1971 (cd)

Autumn - Oceanworld

Recorded in 1977 and 1978, Autumn's Oceanworld was an unashamedly ambitious and symphonic instrumental album totally at odds with prevailing late '70s trends.

Left unreleased until 1999, the 36 minute release possesses a highly romantic and very English quality, containing influences from Progressive (Genesis, Yes, Enid, Hackett) and Fusion (Return To Forever) musics.

A truly fascinating 'hidden history', Autumn included Nick Magnus (Steve Hackett, The Enid) and Robbie Dobson (The Enid, Hawkwind) in its ranks.

'A Prog Rock masterpiece.' - Francois Couture (All Music)

Tin Spirits - Wired To Earth (cd)

The Esoteric Antenna edition of Wired To Earth, the accomplished debut album from Swindon Prog Rock quartet, Tin Spirits (a band featuring former XTC guitarist, Dave Gregory).

The album is made up of four original compositions, alongside a cover of the Genesis classic 'Back in NYC' (indicative of the influences at work).

Van Der Graaf Generator - ALT (cd)

Following on from the huge success of A Grounding In Numbers, ALT is the new release from the legendary Van Der Graaf Generator.

Peter Hammill says, "Most of the music on ALT was made while we weren't really looking, or perhaps only while the left side of our collective brain was engaged. The album is a mixture of improvisations recorded at sound checks and in the studio and more considered sonic creations which often verge on Musique Concrete."

The fourteen pieces on ALT offer a fascinating glimpse into an alternative Van der Graaf Generator sound world.

Gentle Giant - Interview (vinyl)

Interview, from 1976, was the follow-up to Gentle Giant's most successful album to date, Free Hand.

Possessing a darker, more Rock orientated edge than anything the band had done up to this point, the album was seen as an equally brilliant, but less optimistic response to its celebrated predecessor.

Arguably the band's last classic album.

Re-mastered 180gm vinyl version.

Van Der Graaf Generator - The Aerosol Grey Machine (cd)

A blueprint for the future, VDGG's 1969 debut is ample testament to Peter Hammill's already apparent originality and creativity.

More acoustic and melodic than much that followed, The Aerosol Grey Machine sits between the singer-songwriter intimacy of Fool's Mate and the brooding, apocalyptic Progressive sound of The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other.

An all too often overlooked gem, this is the Fie! label digital re-master (Fie! 9116).

An idiosyncratic and typically thoughtful Ian Anderson response to the time of mistletoe and holly, The Jethro Tull Christmas album - recorded in 2003 - was an unexpected critical and commercial success.

Featuring an organic folk-rock sound reminiscent of the band's mid to late 1970s incarnations, the album mixes new material, re-recordings of Jethro Tull's own suitably themed material and arrangements of traditional Christmas music.

A seasonal treat in itself, this edition comes with an extra disc featuring a live concert from 2008.

The perfect antidote to this, or any, year's X-Factor chart-topper.

Jethro Tull - A / Slipstream (cd/dvd)

A new direction for a new decade, 'A' marked a radical departure for Jethro Tull revealing a synth dominated sound far removed from the more rustic approach on preceding releases Stormwatch and Heavy Horses.

Initially conceived as an Ian Anderson solo venture, the album featured prominent contributions from Eddie Jobson (Roxy Music, Zappa, UK) on keyboards and electric violin.

This re-mastered edition of 'A' comes with its 1981 visual companion 'Slipstream', which contains concert footage from the 'A' tour and studio videos of classic material such as Dun Ringill and Sweet Dream.
