King Crimson - The Collectable King Crimson: Vol. 5: Live In Japan, 1995 (2CD)

This collection features the expanded audio taken from the original concert recordings used for the band's Deja VROOOM DVD. The 1995 world tour was the first undertaken by the re-formed double trio lineup in the wake of the release of THRAK. Many years on from the concerts, the benefits of perspective confirm what fans suspected at the time; namely that this incarnation of King Crimson was a classic live lineup - no mean feat given some of its predecessors.

So why now? After all much of the audio is available on the DVD. Well, despite the availability of numerous King Crimson live albums, the audio from the DVD has been extensively (& poorly) pirated & issued as a bootleg CD under the ?Live in Japan? title. While every effort has been made to stop distribution of the set, the best way to ensure that fans have access to the material from the best quality source is to officially release the material on CD. This edition comes with two additional band tracks not featured on the original DVD, Robert Fripp's introductory Soundscape for the Tokyo shows, (presented here as a coda to the main album), archive photos & sleevenotes by King Crimson biographer Sid Smith.

Overview: The Collectable King Crimson series presents recordings drawn from the band's own extensive high quality concert tape archive, rehearsal tapes & audio restored bootlegs of historic recordings. Focusing on live performances that are of particular interest to the band's extensive fanbase, titles in the series, including this one, are issued and sold at a special price.
