Re-mastered with extensive liner notes (written by Brian Hopper), these live recordings feature Soft Machine in a transitional stage from the London Underground scene makers of the late 1960s to the jazz rock outfit they became.

Three highly accomplished drummers (Vinny Sabatino, Dean McCormick and Jose Duque) complement and reinforce the duo's existing programmed electronic rhythms, while highly regarded Classical musician Steve Bingham (also known for his evocative work with No-Man) adds electric violin.
