Panegyric Competition Winner

King Crimson - Live At The Orpheum (cd/dvda)


The winner of the fabulous Panegyric competition is Peter from Durham in the UK. Peter will receive all of 2015's new titles from the label and answered correctly that Mel Collins was the member of King Crimson who had played with both Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.

King Crimson’s brilliant new concert recording Live At The Orpheum - the cd/dvda of which is shipping now - is the first release Peter will receive.


Simple Minds

Sparkle In The Rain (box set / blu-ray pre-orders)


A five disc box set of Simple Minds' 1984 classic, Sparkle In The Rain, containing a re-master of the original album, a collection of rare B-sides, a previously unreleased concert recording from 1984 and a BBC Radio session from 1983. The DVD (NTSC, Region 0) features a Steven Wilson 5.1 surround sound mix, remixed from the multi-track master tapes, as well as promo videos and a high res stereo mix. The box also includes a 36-page booklet with extensive sleeve notes and new interviews.

A region free 'super audio' blu-ray edition - featuring the Steven Wilson 5.1 surround sound mix and a high res stereo mix - is also available.

Peter Blegvad's unique attempt to chronicle his 1977 collaborative masterpiece, Kew. Rhone.

Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white, Blegvad examines each song and uncovers themes and sources. In the second part of the book, various writers and artists offer their view of the album. Featuring contributions from his main collaborator John Greaves plus Carla Bley, Jonathan Coe, Robert Wyatt and others.

Samurai

Samurai (cd pre-order)


A genuine lost classic, Samurai (from 1971) was a follow up to Web's equally ambitious 1970 album I Spider. A peculiarly English Progressive sound imbued with Zappa-esque Jazz influences - saxes and vibes collide with organs - the music possesses elements of Egg, Van Der Graaf, King Crimson and Gentle Giant's approaches, while sounding like none of them.

This 2015 Esoteric label edition features sleeve notes by vocalist/keyboardist Dave Lawson (who later achieved fame in Greenslade).

Bridget St John

Dandelion Albums and BBC Recordings Collection (quadruple cd box set pre-order)


Discovered and nurtured by the late, great John Peel, Bridget St John was one of the UK’s leading singer-songwriter voices of the late 1960s and early 1970s, with a style reminiscent of contemporaries Nick Drake, John Martyn and Nico.

This comprehensive box set includes the three albums recorded for Peel’s Dandelion label, plus live recordings and BBC sessions (made between 1968 and 1972). The albums are packaged in mini LP replica sleeves and the booklet includes memorabilia and sleeve notes. The BBC material includes songs unavailable elsewhere.
