alias grace - storm blue evening (cdr)

Featuring hauntingly melancholy songs adorned with constantly shifting atmospheric arrangements, Alias Grace's second album 'Storm Blue Evening' develops further the intimate and beguiling nature of their charmed debut album and captures perfectly the maturing writing style of Irish singer-songwriter Sandra O'Neill and multi-instrumentalist Peter Chilvers. Ordered the CD on the strength of Nightshift. Only finding music like this by accident while browsing the web makes me wonder what has gone wrong with the UK music press... must be a decade since they championed anything worth hearing twice.

I have a terrible confession to make. I have never been a big fan of female vocalists, too many of them singing to formula, and sounding the same. Fortunately, that critism cannot be laid at the door of Sandra O`Neill. This album is utterly gorgeous. I cant believe that it doesnt get more airplay, especially late night. I listened to it for the first when overloaded with work, and feeling somewhat sorry for myself. The second time around on the MP3 player, and I felt utterly chilled. It should be available on the NHS for the overworked and stressed out!

Wow! Anyone else discover the secret track on Storm Blue Evening? I almost shouldn't say anything more, unless this is already a fairly open secret -- but my hat's off to you, Peter. Whose idea was it? I should also say, having gotten my Burning Shed order last week, that today was actually the first time I heard any Alias Grace, and all I have to say is -- man. Why the hell aren't you people more famous? 'Talk Simple' had me calling up friends and playing the track down the phone at them.
