Californian gore metallers Autopsy burst onto the scene in 1988 with almost immediate infamy. Frontman Chris Reifert was already a well-known force on the underground through his time as drummer with Florida's highly respected death metal combo Death, along with Chuck Schuldiner, who sadly passed away in 2001.

Early 1991 saw the release of the Autopsy's first EP, 'Retribution For The Dead', closely followed by their second album 'Mental Funeral'. Metal Funeral is now lauded as the most important Autopsy album ever, defining their sound & attitude. The album still makes it into many metal journalists all time album charts.

Original Autopsy members Danny & Chris are now in the Peaceville signed band Abscess whose 2002 album Through The Cracks Of Death appeared in the Terrorizer writers poll for best album of 2002.
