'Formed in late 1990 AT THE GATES mix a ferocious blend of distinct melody and brutal riffs into a sound that is extreme yet remains memorably listenable. Hailing from Gothenburg in Sweden, the five piece built a solid reputation for delivering great albums and frenetic live performances.Their debut album titled 'The Red in the Sky is Ours' was released in November 1991, the album proved a hit with fans of the burgeoning death metal scene. After extensive European touring with My Dying Bride, the band released this their 2nd album on Peaceville's sister label, Deaf Records, entitled 'With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness'. It was re-released on Peaceville in June '95 as a double album with their first album 'The Red In The Sky Is Ours'.After the Earache album release 'Slaughter Of The Soul' the band spilt, the Bjorler twins, along with Adrian (who's now debunked to the Cradle camp) branched out to form The Haunted, meanwhile vocalist Tomas Lindberg has worked on several projects, most notably The Great Deceiver plus some guesting with acclaimed band Lock Up.
