How do I order from Burning Shed?

Ordering from us is simple. Just click the "Buy" or "Pre-order" button of the title(s) you want and when you've finished adding to your basket go to the "checkout". Remember to carefully check the details you enter for your billing address. You have the option to enter a different shipping address if you need to.We ship worldwide and offer shipping insurance as an additional feature - this can be purchased during the checkout procedure.

Try not to use "autofill" for the address fields - usually this results in your surname being the first line of your address and no street name or number appearing on your address label. Obviously if we miss the error this makes it quite difficult for the postman to deliver to you.

Please check the confirmation email you receive carefully and email us immediately if anything is wrong with your order or the shipping details. If you do not receive our order confirmation email we can re-send it to you.

If you find that there are problems with any of your details, or your order, after you’ve completed the checkout process please email support@burningshed.com with the correct information and we’ll put everything right for you.

What are your prices in my local currency?

If you have selected your country as United Kingdom, USA, Japan or a member of the European Community, you should see prices in your own currency. Please note that these prices are an approximation based on recent exchange rates. Your final charge will be in £GBP, which will be displayed at the checkout. We recommend using www.xe.com to convert from British Pounds (GBP) into your own currency.

How much will shipping cost?

All our shipping costs are carefully calculated taking into account the packaging required and the weight of the items ordered. Sometimes shipping costs may appear high, but please appreciate that items such as heavyweight vinyl and box sets are very heavy and that there are weight limits we have to abide by.

You can place an item in your shopping basket to see how much it will cost to ship by clicking "Buy" or "Pre-order".
(You can remove the item if you do not wish to go ahead with the purchase)

If you are ordering more than one item the shipping rate will automatically be updated.

Pre-Orders

Pre-ordered items are always shipped separately as release dates can change. Shipping is calculated as if the pre-ordered item is a different order.

Can I insure my order?

Customers outside the United Kingdom can choose to insure their order at the checkout page. If you have any concerns about the postal services in your area we suggest choosing insurance. We strongly recommend that you insure your order if you live in the following places:

We will only be able to provide tracking numbers to customers who have chosen and paid for insurance. Unlike some other countries the UK does not have a reference number for every package.

Postal Insurance

Postal insurance is now €5.45 EUR for orders up to €46.65 EUR, and €7.70 EUR for orders over €46.65 EUR.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Typical delivery times:

United Kingdom: 2-3 working days
Europe: 3-7 working days
Rest of the World: 7 working days+ (sometimes less)

These times are based on Royal Mail's estimates. Experience tells us that deliveries to Central and South America in particular can take 4 weeks or more. It all depends on the local postal service in your area.

Larger parcels may take longer.

We send UK deliveries by Royal Mail standard post. We use 2nd class for normal orders and 1st class for heavy items.
We send overseas orders by Royal Mail Airmail. There are weight restrictions so heavy orders may be split into 2 or more packages. Royal Mail pass packages on to your local national postal service for delivery.

If you did not pay for postal insurance we cannot provide a tracking number.Unlike some other countries the UK does not have a reference number for every package.

If an order is returned to us marked "unclaimed", "refused", "unknown" or "insufficient address" we reserve the right to charge to re-ship the order to you.

Non-UK Customers: If you haven’t received your order after 7 working days and you paid for insurance, please contact us for a tracking number you can take to your local post office. Even if you didn’t pay for insurance, please contact your local post office to see if they are holding the parcel for you - sometimes the postmen forget to leave cards. Most items that customers believe are “lost” are later returned to us as "unclaimed" by the local postal service. Very, very few orders actually go missing, never to be seen again!

UK Customers: If you haven’t received your order after 7 working days, please contact your local sorting office as the postman was probably unable to deliver and they may be holding it for you.

What should I do if my order goes missing?

If your order hasn't arrived 28 days after we posted it, please email support@burningshed.com.

What should I do if my order arrives damaged?

For vinyl and larger CD/DVD orders we use our own bespoke heavy-duty cardboard mailers which are incredibly strong. However, despite our best efforts, sometimes items will arrive damaged. We are always happy to replace paper parts or discs that are broken or torn. If this rare occurrence happens with part of your order please email support@burningshed.com with a small JPG image of the damaged article for our records (no files over 1MB). In some instances we will ask you to return it to us but please don't do this until you have had a reply letting you know what we're doing about it.

For environmental reasons we cannot post a standard jewel case if it arrives with a crack in it - these are readily available in many stores for pennies.

If you are placing another order with us please let us know when you write as we can send your replacement parts with your new order.

How do I order downloads?

You'll need to create a downloading account before buying any downloads. This is free, and takes less than a minute. On the side of each store page, there's a box headed 'Downloads'. Click 'Sign In', and follow the instructions. Once you have an account created, just add downloads to your shopping basket as normal. Once you've purchased a download, you can download the files for up to 72 hours. You can find more download help at this page.

What are VAT charges?

Burning Shed are a VAT registered company and have to charge 20% VAT (Value Added Tax) on any items shipped to the European Community (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom). If you live outside of this area, you will not see VAT charges. Please note that you may, however, be liable for import duties - these vary from country to country.

We're sorry if this is all seems a bit confusing - we didn't make the rules on international trading!

What do Burning Shed CDRs look like?

The outer packaging of a CDR released on the Burning Shed catalogue is a cardboard envelope with an ink stamp. Each title has a printed inlay card with track details and album image. The stylish and simple design was created by Carl Glover from Aleph, who has also designed sleeves for No-Man, King Crimson, Brian Eno, Led Zepplin, Marillion, and Porcupine Tree.

If I preorder a title, when will I get charged?

Due to a restriction imposed by Barclays Banking Services, all orders are charged at the time the order is placed.

Is my order secure?

All credit card orders are processed by secure server hosted by WorldPay.

Demo Policy

Burning Shed is happy to receive both physical and download link demos. No emails with attachments can be accepted.
However, due to time constraints and the high volume of material we're sent, we cannot offer a personal response / critique, except in the cases of the artists whose work we'd like to promote through the site.

Promo Policy

Burning Shed mainly works on behalf of other bands and labels and does not carry promotional copies of cds, dvds. vinyl etc.
The exceptions to this are the releases on the Burning Shed label.
