KTU - 8 Armed Monkey (cd)

KTU was originally a double duo formation featuring Kimmo Pohjonen (electronic accordion) and Samuli Kosminen (also from Icelandic band Mum) (accordion samples and noises), with King Crimson members, Trey Gunn (Warr-guitar) and Pat Mastelotto (rhythmic devices, beats, electronics, noises).

8 Armed Monkey, the band's debut album, was recorded live in Tokyo in 2004.

Ranging from atmospheric soundscapes to gut-wrenching, brain-thrashing noise this astonishing fusion of mercurial talents contains an inspired mix of original compositions and improvisations.

"Pohjonen is a wonder unto himself: attacking the bellows with the ecstatic fury of Jimi Hendrix." (David Fricke, Rolling Stone)

'awesome...awesome...awesome...awesome...' (The Wire)

"blending the best elements of experimental and progressive rock into a tangible, listenable entity. It's like nothing you've heard before." (Andrew Magilow, Splendid)
