Widely regarded as an Opeth classic, 2001's Blackwater Park has proven to be a transitional album for the band.

While its earlier albums explored Extreme and Epic Metal, the band's later music moved heavily towards mid-seventies Progressive Rock. Blackwater Park combines the best of both worlds, featuring Metal riffing, Prog textures and typically dark lyrical themes.
