fovea hex - huge
Huge, released by Janet Records and Die Stadt Records in 2006, is the second part of Fovea Hex's remarkable trilogy of EPs, Neither Speak Nor Remain Silent.
A unique, atmospheric, fusion of folk-derived melodies and electronica created and written by Irish singer-songwriter Clodagh Simonds, Huge features contributions from Brian Eno, Percy Jones, Carter Burwell and Colin Potter, amongst others.
"If Emily Dickinson had ever been allowed to make a record, this is probably what it would have sounded like.....the point of contact between worlds" (Wire Magazine)
"3 jaw-dropping tracks that recall a mix of This Mortal Coil, haunted folk, lysergic classical.....a beauty!" (Rough Trade)
"...truly an astonishing work....Huge is an absolutely stunning release which I urge people to get on board about." (Brainwashed.com)
"Clodagh Simonds, her sweetly freezing voice halfway between Nico and Clannad's Maire Brennan, paints light-grey clouds and mourning solitude highlighted by a beautiful use of found sound and peculiarly mixed instruments...the recording quality is magnificent, the songs are perfect. What else is there to say?" (Paris Transatlantic).
