fovea hex - bloom
Bloom, released by Janet Records and Die Stadt Records in 2006, is the first part of Fovea Hex's remarkable trilogy of EPs, Neither Speak Nor Remain Silent.
A unique, atmospheric, fusion of folk-derived melodies song and electronica created and written by Irish singer-songwriter Clodagh Simonds, Bloom features contributions from Brian Eno, Roger Eno and Carter Burwell, amongst others.
"...spectral chorales around emotionally charged siren songs" (Aquarius Records SF)
"....spellbinding ambience and eerie pagan beauty" (Another Music NYC)
"...rarefied, abstract beauty - Bloom also recalls the cryogenically frozen "sublime" of 80s 4AD ethereality" (Stylus Magazine)
"Down-to-earth otherworldliness...the singer's got such a knack for marrying traditionalist tropes and melodies with up-to-the-minute-after-this-one experimentalism that you'd think she was born with eternity in her gut" (Seattle Weekly).
