bass communion - bass communion 1 (cd)
Bass Communion is the name SW gives to recordings he has been making since 1994 in an ambient and/or electronic vein. Most of the pieces are experiments in texture and are generated from processing recordings of real instrumental performances. This is the first CD from 1998 including a 25 minute piece based on Robert Fripp's soundscapes. |
Fovea HexFeaturing guest contributions from Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Steven Wilson and many others. |

Nice ambient tunes. Did No-Man used the same "drugged" samples to the "together we´re stranger" album?

This is a fine offering from S Wilson. It is very good for being his first published electronic / ambient work. It is very clean sounding. Exquisitely done and performed; as are most of his efforts. I have no more to say. It is a perfectly sounding and flowing cd of sublimely good music.

I LOVE this CD. As with all good music, you must listen to it with no distractions in order to appreciate it fully...

being more of a prog rock fan than ambient,i thought well if sw is involved it won,t be bad. how right i was . the 2 "drugged" pieces are stunning.pure beauty - the sound washes over you in melodic waves.just sit and listen - no phone calls ,no chat, nothing - just listen !

Bass Communion is the side project of Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree). Under this alias he explores the world of ambient/minimalist sonic textures. The music on this album is superb exemplified on the two tracks "Drugged" which also captures the talents of Theo Travis on saxophone. Effective and stunning!!!

Well, in my opinion this is pure ambient music, but it's not only an electronical stuff. There are some "natural" sounds comming from saxophone and Fripp's soundscapes. Two versions of "Drugged" seems to be most emotional and my favourite tracks on this album. Simple but really beautiful.
